No, this is not a match.com tips blog! Sorry to disappoint you if you’re looking for love.

Here’s how you can enjoy CNY Jazz virtual programming “on the big screen” at home! There are several easy ways to do this.

FROM YOUR COMPUTER

The effortless way to cast our shows onto your TV requires that you have two things: a “smart TV” – one that gets you access to streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, etc – and WiFi in your home. If you have both of these:

  1. Turn on your TV and go to the Youtube channel
  2. Turn on your computer, click on the CNY Jazz show link sent to you in an email, and your Youtube video will open
  3. In the lower right corner of the video pane, hover over the icons and click the one that says “Cast to TV” – et voila – it’s magic. Enjoy the show!

FROM YOUR PHONE

  1. Turn on your TV and go to the Youtube channel
  2. Open the show link on your phone (it will be in your email on the phone)
  3. Tap the show link to open it
  4. At the top of the Youtube screen, tap the “cast” icon

Hint – your device and your TV both have to be on the same WiFi channel!

IF YOU DON’T HAVE A SMART TV – Streaming devices like Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Firesticks all have Youtube channels! The wireless procedure is the same.

IF THIS ISN’T WORKING FOR YOU – YOU CAN USE AN HDMI CABLE!

Just connect a laptop to your TV – most PCS have HDMI inputs, and so do TVs. Hook them up securely, use your TV remote to go to the HDMI channel you selected on the back of your TV (they are labeled HDMI-1, HDMI-2, etc), and watch.

Hint – Your laptop might have a “’’mini-HDMI” port or a “Micro HDMI” port – in that case, buy a cable with either of those on one end and HDMI on the other end.

HDMI cables are cheap, between $3 and $10.

FOR BETTER SOUND

If you’re looking for higher fidelity than your internal TV speakers can give you, consider a “sound bar” for your TV, an external speaker. Just Google “sound bar for TV” and shop. They are really easy to set up right out of the box.
