Twin Pillars of Jazz Visit Syracuse
Syracuse, NY – The 23rd CNY Jazz Cabaret Season opens with a visit by Peter and Will Anderson, identical twin saxophone sensations now touring internationally. Recent headliners at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and other venues worldwide, they last appeared in Syracuse at the 2018 Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival in Clinton Square. They will perform with their quintet on Sunday November 18th starting at 4:00 pm in the Sheraton Syracuse University Ballroom. Graduates of Juilliard, the Andersons have been called “virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone” by the New York Times. The Washington Post has called their music “imaginatively unfolding in ways that consistently bring a fresh perspective to classic jazz.” They have headlined at The Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, New Orleans Jazz Festival, Feinstein’s 54 Below, and DC’s Blues Alley. They have appeared on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion and HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. Prolific writers and arrangers, they wrote and directed the Off-Broadway show “Le Jazz Hot”, receiving a Drama Desk Award nomination and a Bistro Award.
“Lovers of classic to modern swing and the finest songs of the 20th century will love the Andersons,” according to Larry Luttinger organizer of the event. “These Millennials really cook, and they’re at the top of their game at a tender age. I’m ecstatic that they could carve a day out of their non-stop tour schedule to perform for us.”
At all CNY Jazz Cabaret events, a cash bar and affordable buffet stations are offered. Group and corporate tables are also available. Tickets are $30 advance, $35 at the door, and with student I.D. only $10. CNY Jazz Club cardholders will receive 10% off their food and drink, and parking is validated in the Sheraton parking garage.
All annual donors to CNY Jazz at the $50 level and above receive a “CNY Jazz Club Card” to receive 10% discounts on food and drink at all cabarets and over 100 other CNY Jazz Club events at venues throughout Syracuse and Central New York, plus ticket discounts at all Redhouse shows.
