Jazz Central Hosts “Boys in the Band” 50th Anniversary Production

Jazz Central Hosts “Boys in the Band” 50th Anniversary Production

Syracuse, NY – Rarely Done Productions, presenting cutting edge Off-Broadway in Jazz Central’s downtown theater for 14 years, opens their 2018-19 season with an ambitious 50th Anniversary revival of Mart Crowley’s breakthrough 1968 play about gay life, “The Boys in the Band.” A groundbreaking and prescient work from the era that preceded both Stonewall and AIDS, the play’s overwhelming success led to the critically acclaimed 1970 movie of the same name, for which Crowley penned the screenplay. The play has recently enjoyed anniversary productions nationwide, including a New York revival starring Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto and others.

A top shelf cast has been assembled for the production, including Josh Ammons, Michael Dean Anderson, Jimmy Curtin, Jonathan Fleischman, Joshua Kimball, David Minikheim, Michael Riecke, Michael Stephan, and Jason Timothy.

The show opens Friday November 9th, with additional 8:00 pm shows scheduled for November 10th, 15th, 16th, and 17th. Tickets are available through the Rarely Done Box Office at 315-810-2429 (a Google Voicemail box; your calls will be returned) or online at www.rarelydone.org. The intimate Jazz Central space seats 63; advance tickets are recommended.
