CNY Jazz welcomes Anne Farnsworth to Syracuse
National artist to perform in Cavalier Room
Syracuse NY – Jazz and Pop music devotees across Central New York will get a brand new thrill when CNY Jazz presents vocalist-pianist Anne Farnsworth in the next edition of their Jazz at the Cavalier series at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown this Wednesday from 6 to 9 pm. The event is free, and a special jazz cocktail and food menu will be available at the upscale lounge in the newly restored Hotel Syracuse.
An internationally acclaimed artist, jazz pianist and vocalist, Farnsworth has recently relocated to Upstate New York from Los Angeles, where she divided her time between performing, teaching, and journalism. She has toured extensively in the States and abroad both as a sideman and leader of her own trios and quartets.
A 2012 Fulbright Scholar, she has taught at institutions including the University of Southern California, Occidental College and Idyllwild Arts Academy. She is an international clinician and the author of JAZZ VOCAL TECHNIQUES (JazzMediaPress 2003). Her writings have been published in Windplayer, Billboard Live, Jazz Notes, and in a biweekly column for Concord Music Group.
In Los Angeles, she was an active participant in the club and theater scenes. She’ll be playing repertoire from the Great American Songbook, jazz standards, and reimagined pop titles from “Sealed with a Kiss,” her latest recording on the prestigious Naxos label.
“We’re incredibly lucky to have Anne based close enough to experience her prodigious talents in a club in our area,” CNY Jazz founder and organizer of the series. “She’s of a kind with the greatest singing pianists of our time, names like Diana Krall, Shirley Horn, Dena Derose, and Blossom Dearie. Anne will perform on the new Boston grand in the Cavalier Room with her trio. There is no cover or minimum.
